About this experience
During this private full-day trip departing from Halkidiki, Meteora’s monasteries that are on the UNESCO list may be viewed without the need to bother about transportation. A number of monasteries, which were constructed on elevated pinnacles between the 14th and 16th centuries, are open to tourists who wish to learn about their history and sacred treasures while also appreciating the breathtaking views.
Before heading back, take some time to relax on the gorgeous trip across northern Greece, visit one of the open monasteries, such as the Holy Trinity, and eat lunch beneath the rocks, which you will be responsible for paying for.
Meteora is an area in Thessaly (central Greece) and Kalampaka is the city under the rock towers of Meteora. The thing that makes Meteora so special is the monasteries on the top of the rock towers. The monasteries, the amount of peaks to climb and the paths for hiking brings many tourists to Meteora all year round.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Halkidiki at 07.30, and will we follow the road towards Meteora, that will take approximately 3,5-4 hours until we get there. If you like we can make a short stop at the town of Trikala, for a coffee break next to Litheos River, and afterwards we start visits the monasteries of Meteora.
This wonderful tour will be completed at the picturesque villages of Kalambaka or Kastraki, where you can have optional a traditional Greek lunch! Afterwards, we will return at Halkidiki.
The duration of this tours is about 10-12 hours as Meteora is approximately 350 kilometers away from Halkidiki. (depending the village)
