Located right in the heart of the village, just behind the central church of Agios Athanasios, the Folklore Museum of Polichrono offers a fascinating journey into the traditional life and rich cultural heritage of Kassandra, Halkidiki.
Founded in 2014 by the local Cultural Association, the museum was created with a deep passion for preserving the historical and intellectual heritage of the area. It is housed in a beautifully arranged space where visitors can take a break from the busy summer beaches and learn exactly how the locals lived, worked, and celebrated during the previous centuries.
The exhibits are thoughtfully organized into thematic sections, giving you a comprehensive view of the region’s folklore history without feeling overwhelming
Everyday Life: Explore an impressive collection of authentic traditional costumes, household items, cooking utensils, and old wooden looms used for weaving.
Agricultural History: Admire old farming equipment, beekeeping tools, and carpentry instruments that sustained the local economy for generations.
Historical Documents: The museum also features rare photographs of the old village, historical maps, old coins, and replicas of local archaeological finds
Since this is a small, community-run museum, the opening hours are tailored to the summer season when the village is most active
